Description

Afghanistan, 1975: Twelve-year-old Amir is desperate to win the local kite-fighting tournament and his loyal friend Hassan promises to help him. But neither of the boys can foresee what will happen to Hassan that afternoon, an event that is to shatter their lives. After the Russians invade and the family is forced to flee to America, Amir realises that one day he must return to Afghanistan under Taliban rule to find the one thing that his new world cannot grant him: redemption.

From the Back Cover

"The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini is a powerful and emotionally charged novel that explores the complexities of friendship, betrayal, and redemption against the backdrop of Afghanistan's tumultuous history. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of Amir, a privileged boy from Kabul, and his complex relationship with his loyal friend and servant's son, Hassan.

Set against the backdrop of the Soviet invasion, the rise of the Taliban, and the diaspora of Afghan refugees, the story is a poignant exploration of guilt and the enduring impact of choices made in the past. As Amir embarks on a journey to confront his demons and seek redemption, readers are immersed in a tale that spans generations and continents.
